During a late four o’clock lunch today, I came across a show on HGTV called the Ultimate Wedding Guide with Tips for Planning the Ultimate Wedding. I always like to see what these shows, and their so-called ‘experts,’ have to say about planning weddings. Here’s what ranks at the top of their list:
Theme
Flowers
Invitations
Favors
Wedding Dress
Centerpieces
Food
Cake
Aside from this list being terrible, do you see anything missing? How about videography, photography, or entertainment?!?! The three most important items that should be AT THE TOP of any bride’s checklist – missing. Once again, I shook my head in stunned disbelief.
Several years ago, WEVA did a survey of brides to discover the value of videography (read the full article here). The survey revealed that before the wedding, videography ranks low on the minds of brides. But afterwards, the value of video jumps near the top. Why?
Can you imagine spending all of your time and money planning the biggest day of your life – only to realize no one was there to capture your wedding vows? Or that emotional speech at the reception? Or the song of your first dance? Only a professionally produced video can capture the sights and sounds of your day. That’s why.
We often also hear from couples that “we are getting a really good photographer, so we don’t need video.” We couldn’t disagree more. Do you have a favorite TV show? 30 Rock? Lost? American Idol? Entourage? Project Runway? The Office? What if your favorite TV show was going to coffee table books. Would you still watch (view) it?
